My client is an international FMCG food company based South of Greater London. They encompass a number of brands, many of which are now household names! My client pride themselves on being pioneers and experts in their field, hence wanting searching out the `best of the best` to work for them. My client is looking for a talented brand manager to bring talent, skills and personality to the team and develop a category of brands.
The role;
To lead, manage, champion and be accountable for a category portfolio.
- To develop the assigned portfolio initiatives that achieves the commercial aims of the product portfolio
- This would encompass all aspects of the marketing mix, including NPD and leadership of cross functional teams through all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Deliver key KPIs for the product portfolio.
- P&L Responsibility in line with budget - £ T/O, % Margin, £ Profit as key measurable.
- Meet all consumer related KPI targets: Market Share of portfolio , Penetration, AWOP and Frequency.
- A&P Budget management relating to specific product portfolio in conjunction with the wider team.
- No Direct Reports but demonstrate leadership and coaching of more junior members of brand team.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking in management of portfolio, both short term and longer term as part of annual brand planning.
- Portfolio Management - daily management and ownership in delivery of budgeted sales values and margins.
- Management of all product, packaging and artwork initiatives relating to the Sauces portfolio.
- Marketing communication -
o Develop, recommend and implement communications activities, working with agencies where appropriate;
o Ensure evaluation of these activities and share learnings across the business;
o Working cross functionally to gain buy in and support for these activities
o Delivery of these activities to time and to budget
- Brand Plan - develop and deliver a commercially sound, , integrated Sales & marketing annual brand plan.
- Consumer Insight - Champion understanding and education of the portfolio within the team and the wider business.
- 3 Year Plan - Continually review and develop for the assigned portfolio of products; within this establishing a innovation/renovation plan relevant for the UK and International markets.
- Global Support - liaise with International marketing to provide direction and share best practice (on communications and NPD) to enable delivery of International objectives in the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications:
Educated to degree level
Certificate / Diploma in Marketing
Competencies:
- Marketing experience of at least 3- 5 years in high calibre FMCG organization
- Commercial awareness and understanding - financial awareness, experience with managing P&Ls (profit focused) and real interest in the wider commercial agenda
- Market, competitor and consumer insight (tools and techniques)
- NPD experience of at least 3 years (demonstrate true to market innovation delivery)
- Strong project management skills, good planning and organisation skills
- Project management skills in cross functional environments (tools, techniques, communication methods)
- Exceptional analytical skills (turn insight into action / strategy)
- Communication, negotiation and influencing skills (internally and externally)
- Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- A true team player
- High attention to detail, the ability to multi task and think laterally.
