Londoners are the unhappiest workers in the UK, according to a new poll.

Research carried out by independent recruitment agency scoring company HireScores has found that workers in London are the unhappiest in their jobs in the UK.

The survey of just under 1,700 people across the UK revealed that 74 per cent of people asked in London thought at least once a day about finding another job. This is compared to just 11 per cent in the south-west of England.

Lisette Howlett, managing director of HireScores, said: "This may be due to a combination of factors such as high cost of living, potential poor work life balance and current uncertainty about jobs due to the sudden financial downturn."

In related news, the Institute for Practitioners in Advertising 2007 Agency Census has revealed that employment levels within the advertising industry are continuing to grow.

There was a rise in employment of 1,710 individuals in 2007, amounting to an overall growth in the industry of 9.2 per cent.
