Shop closes its doors

A UK-based advertising agency has announced that it will close next month.
Advertising agency Shop has announced that it will cease trading as of the end of May, reports Brand Republic.
The company was founded in 2001 by Caspar Thykier, among others, and has been experiencing difficulties since last year when Mercedes ended its relationship with the agency.
Mr Thykier spoke of his sadness at the announcement but said that it is a necessary move.
"We felt it was the right time to cease trading to safeguard the future of our staff and clients and be able to wind down the company in an orderly fashion. It's a sad day for us but sometimes you have to make the right decision and not the popular decision," he said, according to Brand Republic.
Shop's clients have also included Green Flag, Christian Aid and AQA.
The agency recently won a bronze and a silver accolade at the British Television Advertising Awards 2008 for their work on the More Thought Goes into Thorntons campaign.
