The UK has been chosen as the location by a new venture by Palmer Johnson.
US-based yacht-builder Palmer Johnson has announced that it to set up a new operation in the UK and will use the country's designers for its multi-million pound super-yacht interiors, reports Design Week.
It has previously used Italian design group Nuvolari-Lenard, but said that the UK's highly-skilled workforce resulted in the new venture.
"Nuvolari-Lenard is producing much of the interior styling, but we will also be using interior and industrial designers to carry out production detailing," said James Hillard, Palmer Johnson design office manager.
It is though that the move will create many new jobs at the new sites, which are located at Woolston and Hythe in Hampshire.
The UK designers beat stiff competition from Dubai, France and Turkey to win the location deal.
Palmer Johnson Yachts, founded in 1918 as Johnson and Gmack, began by building and repairing boats for the Great Lakes commercial fishing fleet.
In 1961, after being sold to Texas Instrument founder Pat Haggerty, a commitment was made to the then new field of welded aluminum construction, which continues to today.
