IAB figures show online marketing growth

The latest figures from the Interactive Advertising Bureau in Europe have highlighted the latest marketing trends.
New figures released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) in Europe have shown that spending on online advertising is continuing to rise as marketers make the most of increasing internet use by consumers.
The research showed that the growth rate was up by 40 per cent since 2006, rising to 11.2 billion (£8.9 billion) from 7.2 billion year-on-year.
This indicates that the European online advertising market is rising in line with that of the US, which grew 26 per cent in the same period.
Alain Heureux, president of IAB Europe, said that the growth of online advertising is continuing despite the fact that advertising in other, more traditional areas has diminished.
"Not only is the growth coming from some of the smaller markets which are seeing significant increases in their market value, but also from the more mature countries as companies move their advertising budgets online for the first time," he said.
The IAB is the trade association for online advertising. With over 380 members, it is run for the leading media owners and agencies in the UK internet industry.
