Design Council to promote UK design

The Design Council has said it aims to raise the profile of British design overseas.
National strategic body the Design Council has said it will collaborate with a number of other bodies in a bid to increase foreign investment in British design work.
Deputy chief executive David Godber has said he will meet with UK Trade & Investment, Thank London and Design Partners among others, reports Design Week.
"Foreign direct investment can be in the form of new businesses locating in each of the regions or in stimulating overseas clients to use UK consultancies," he explained.
It hopes to attract the investment, inform overseas clients of the value of UK designers and develop design skills within Britain.
The Design Council promotes the use of design throughout the UK's businesses demonstrating it can have a vital role in strengthening the economy and improving society.
In May, the findings of a report by analysts Young Company Finance and venture management firm 2in10 found that the country's design industry is punching above its weight, with the field employing around 100,000 people, almost equal to the numbers who work in the finance sector.
