The British Council is to launch a new UK Design award.
The British Council is to launch a new awards scheme in a bid to highlight UK talent in the field.
Its UK Young Designer Entrepreneur award will run in conjunction with its international awards, which have been an annual event since 2005, reports Design Week.
The nominations will be open to people woking in architecture, graphic design and digital media, among other channels.
One winner and two runners-up will be announced at a ceremony in September to take place at Earl's Court in London.
They will then visit India in early 2009 to find out about India's design industry from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedebad.
Emily Campbell, British Council head of architecture and design, said the new UK scheme will be an ideal counterpart to the international programme.
"It's really about creating a relationship and synergy everywhere. The idea is to introduce young entrepreneurs to new markets overseas, so India won't be the focus every year. It's a two-way sharing of knowledge and opportunity," she told the magazine.
The British Council is a UK public diplomacy and cultural organisation. It operates in 110 countries and aims to connect people from the UK with learning opportunities and creative ideas to build lasting relationships around the world.
Blue Skies Marketing Recruitment works on behalf of both permanent and freelance agency and in-house candidates across the creative, design and branding, digital, DM, events, experiential, integrated, PR and sales promotion sectors.
