A new study has revealed that sales staff are among the best paid workers in the UK.
New research from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has found that sales professionals are among the best paid employees in Britain, in terms of basic salaries and bonuses.
Their level of pay was found to be higher than those found in marketing, finance and HR, by as much as ten per cent in some cases.
Interestingly, sales staff in London were not the highest paid, earning on average £25,804, compared to the south-east's £26,445.
The level of bonus pay was also found to have increased, with an average rate at around £6,250.
David Thorp, head of research and information at the CIM, said: "The latest study confirms that working in sales can be very rewarding financially, particularly if you are based in or around London or in Scotland.
"But with the end of the nice decade and a rapidly deteriorating economic climate, sales professionals will have to prove they are worth the salaries they command more than ever before."
The CIM is one of the UK's leading international bodies for marketing and business development.
