BBC creates new marketing role

BBC Worldwide has announced its first director of marketing.

BBC Worldwide has announced it has appointed Helen Kellie as its first director of marketing.

Ms Kellie, who will take the position from October 1st, was previously employed in the company's public service division as director of marketing, communications and audiences for BBC Vision.

Most recently, she worked on publicity for programmes like Strictly Come Dancing.

The corporation said it hopes the appointment of Ms Kellie, who will report to chief executive John Smith, will allow the brand to interact more with consumers.

Mr Smith told the Guardian: "Helen joins us from the BBC with a proven track record in really helping the organisation and creating consistent brands across multiples platforms will be crucial in the next phase of BBC Worldwide."

As the commercial arm of the corporation, BBC Worldwide manages seven operations, including sales and distribution, digital media and home entertainment global brands.

It is the UK's biggest exporter of television programmes.
