Paul Haywood, chief sports writer at the Daily Mail, has confirmed that he will be moving to Guardian News and Media (GNM).

The move means Mr Haywood will be lending his creative talent to the Guardian, the Observer and guardian.co.uk.

Mr Haywood will join GNM once the company's offices have been moved to King's Cross in north London.

Mr Haywood is a highly respected sports journalist, having won the British Press Awards' 'sports writer of the year' award twice, as well as the Sky Sports award for best football writer.

He has worked in broadsheets including the Independent and the Daily Telegraph as chief sports writer, so will no doubt be familiar with the role.

Paul has also even worked at the Guardian itself in the late 1990s.

Ben Clissitt, sports editor of the Guardian, said: "Paul is one of Britain's outstanding sports writers and we are delighted to welcome him back to the company.

"He is knowledgeable, thoughtful and well connected and we are extraordinarily excited about the contribution he is going to make online and in print," he added.
