Decision to cut £35 million from ITV budget leads to potential job cuts
ITV may be letting go of up to 100 employees at its commercial sales arm, it has been reported, following its decision to cut £35 million from its annual budget.
The broadcaster's budget review, made public earlier this month, has led to speculation over where ITV will choose to make cuts to its expenditure.
Now however ITV's consultant, the Boston Consulting Group, has announced that jobs must be cut from the sales team at ITV.
One senior TV sales source told Brand Republic: "The pressure will be on high-profile individuals.
"Boston Consulting will have looked at the revenue per head in each department, but the issue for ITV sales is they [still] need a support business."
There is some sympathy for the company, as broadcasters such as ITV, which rely heavily on advertising revenue, have faired particularly badly since the credit crunch took hold.
As with any financial slowdown, marketing has taken a particular hit since the economic outlook turned sour, and due to its exposure, ITV now looks like it will have to take drastic measures to solve some problems.
Blue Skies Marketing Recruitment works on behalf of both permanent and freelance agency and in-house candidates across the creative, design and branding, digital, DM, events, experiential, integrated, PR and sales promotion sectors.
