TMG begins weekend contracts

Weekend Telegraph contracts begin this week

The Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has begun offering weekend-only contracts to Daily Telegraph staff after it announced earlier in the year that it would reorganise the working practices of the newspaper.

A Guardian report notes that so far six members of staff have been appointed to the weekend shift, with some of them also being given weekday work as well.

The weekend contracts come as an answer to the decision to cut casual staff from the newspaper and the resolution to hire editorial posts, despite being only part-time, comes at a time when most media organisations are being criticised for their determination to reduce editorial numbers.

Current staff will be required to work some Saturdays as part of the new contracts as the developments are aimed at integrating the Daily and Sunday Telegraph and telegraph.co.uk.

TMG also recently appointed Lorraine Twohill to the board of directors at the organisation, having worked for five years as Google's vice-president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

It is believed her experience will help promote the new telegraph.co.uk website, relaunched over the summer after a six-month revamp.

Marketing recruitment at TMG is likely to be under serious consideration at present as the company hopes to keep the telegraph.co.uk at the front of the minds of readers.

Blue Skies Marketing Recruitment works on behalf of both permanent and freelance agency and in-house candidates across the creative, design and branding, digital, DM, events, experiential, integrated, PR and sales promotion sectors. ADNFCR-1385-ID-18826631-ADNFCR
