A Day In The Life...

What's a day like at Blue Skies I hear you ask?

David Love

Hi, my name is David and I work in the DM team, super servicing (one of the key Blue Skies values) clients and candidates alike. On a daily basis, my role is structured, systematic but always different with as all clients and applicants are unique individuals. Very briefly, my role is to satisfy my clients specific vacancy needs by finding them a super and appropriate candidate who is genuinely excited by the opportunity. Additionally, I am always looking to expand my client portfolio and spend time every week business developing potential new clients as well as spending time finding super new candidates too. Ultimately, I'm here to ensure an efficient and effective recruitment process - whilst hopefully putting smiles on people's faces along the way.

8.15am

Candidate meeting at Waterloo Station, manage to find each other easily enough! Bags of good experience so we talk through and discuss two very exciting client opportunities that she is interested in..

9.15am

Team meet in the Blue Skies office to discuss our plan for the day and, in particular, the urgent vacancies that our clients need to fill as soon as possible.

9.30am

Focusing on these particular vacancies and matching candidates against my clients specific requirements. I telephone some of my best candidates to discuss the role in more detail with them and they will come back to me this afternoon after thinking the role through in more detail and looking at the full job description.

11.15am

One of my favourite clients has just called me to brief Blue Skies exclusively on a super new role for them which has now become urgent. I will finish the matching and advertising process on my other role and then aim to work on this new one as soon as possible.

12.25pm

Pop out to get some air and grab a bite to eat from the coffee shop round the corner.

12.55pm

Second candidate meet of the day and this lady will also come across very well to my clients and will be working with her to organise a short-list of possible client companies she would be very interested in me representing her to.

1.45pm

Get a call on the mobile from a client, they want to shift back the interview they organised to next week. Arrgh, hope my candidates can make it!

2.00pm

Participate in a team wide New Business telephone session where we contact our key target companies to make them aware of the large number of new candidates who are exclusively registering with Blue Skies only. One prospect company seem very interested in a specialist digital person Blue Skies are representing and have asked me to meet them next week to discuss their future recruitment needs.

4.00pm

Contact all clients to let them know the status of their briefs. Ask those pending decisions on 1st and 2nd interviews to confirm, and then call candidates straight away to let them know the outcome.

5.00pm

Write up copy for 3 new jobs to advertise on online sites and post them immediately.

5.30pm

One of my support staff has been working on the new vacancy we had in earlier this morning and has prepared a shortlist of possible candidates to contact on the role. All the candidates are appropriate for the role and I then spend the next 30 minutes discussing the role in detail with them. 2 candidates are delighted to confirm their interest in the role immediately and the other 2 are going to consider it in more detail tonight and come back to me tomorrow.

6.15pm

One of my clients call me to confirm they are going to be offering a job to one of my candidates they met for a third time earlier today. Fantastic and I pass the great news on to my candidate who is delighted and she will receive the official letter and details tomorrow from myself. Go through today's applications to my online advertising and identify and call the most appropriate candidates and send emails out to those that we can't unfortunately help.

6.45pm

Another freelance brief comes in, but as I've just left the office, I send an email to the client from my I phone 4 and put in a reminder to call them first thing tomorrow morning.
