Market Update - October

Since I returned from furlough in early August, I have seen a steady increase in the number of Marketing vacancies which has been really encouraging.

Even the tougher hit consumer industry has seen a number of new opportunities from online sports, DIY and gardening. The B2B sectors are still leading the way in construction, tech and financial services.

Sought after skills such as Social Media, Internal Communications and some very senior roles have been setting the job boards alight. The number of applications per job is higher than I have ever experienced.

Despite the instability, now is a great time to recruit. There are some amazing candidates available right now and many of my clients have been able to take advantage of this and set themselves up for aggressive growth plans for 2021.

We are currently in lockdown limbo, with our country being divided into tiers and different restrictions applying to each postcode. However, I don’t think the job market will be affected as seriously this time.  I think we have all learned that we can still make the world turn and profits can still be made with employees working remotely during lockdown.

I suspect that much of the restructuring has now been completed and the shock of the market downturn has been adapted to.

The future looks brighter and with the twinkling lights of Christmas ahead and 2021 just around the corner, there is plenty to look forward to.

If you are looking to grow your marketing team or for your next professional opportunity, get in touch.
