Are you ready for Google for Jobs?  There is so much speculation in the market about how this is going to affect the recruitment industry, and a lot of the articles I have seen are all suggesting that this will be our demise. But we had this ‘threat’ previously with the surge of internal recruitment teams and, personally, I don’t think it has been that much of a problem to the industry.

The recruitment industry is reportedly worth £35 billion, and approximately 30% of all Google searches are employment related, so it’s no surprise that they have decided to get involved and add to their wealth!  It was launched in the US over 12 months ago and has been in the UK for a few months.

The aim of Google for Jobs is to refine job searches and make it a much better experience for job-seekers by using AI technology to find the roles that are most relevant in their job search.  Quality content has always been important for Google and so how we write job-ads and the level of detail required is really important.  Better job ads = more relevant candidates.

So what do you need to do if you haven’t already?  It is simply a case of making sure that your website is ready by ensuring that you have the right piece of code entered onto the back end of your website that will then make your job posts visible and picked up by Google for Jobs. And secondly, start writing detailed job adverts.

It’s time to embrace the newest entry to the job search market.
