As a designer/art director you are responsible for the generation of strikingly fresh visual design work, from conception to completion, as well as for the art directional/visual development of campaign ideas generated by the senior creative team and in the putting together of standout presentation documents.   

You will use your design skills across digital and traditional media, helping to shape the visual aspects of our clients’ brands. You are expected to ensure that your creative deliverables are aligned to client expectations and executed within budget and timescales. You will work according to briefs agreed with client, in partnership with the creative heads, creative director and account management, developing appropriate, original creative ideas and concepts that work to achieve client objectives.

Because you are expected to interact with clients, you should be comfortable and confident in presenting your work, selling it in by explaining your ideas articulately and with authority.   

Role and responsibilities:

  • Be a hands-on creative within the agency, providing design and art direction for the agency’s range of clients, conceptualising, creating and delivering communications work and branding across multiple platforms

  • Ensure a consistently high standard of work

  • Work with the creative heads and wider creative team to determine requirements and fulfil the expectations of a client brief

  • Understand the requirements of a brief, be proactive in finding all information required and querying where relevant

  • Liaise with other departments, including account handling, traffic and production

  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas

  • To help maintain and improve the agency’s creative reputation through a high standard of ideas and execution


  • A working knowledge of the various Adobe Creative Cloud platforms, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop and AfterEffects

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic design fundamentals, typography, a broad understanding of advertising and marketing

  • Effective communication, in writing and verbally


  • Produce concept rationales

  • Present ideas to account handlers/project management

  • Provide day-to-day art direction and design support to the creative department to fulfil the projects briefed

  • Brief and direct suppliers, including printers, photographers and illustrators

  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

  • Work with wider creative team to ensure creative ideas are developed and produced in the most efficient way possible from a resource, time and cost perspective

  • Presenting work to clients, outlining your thinking clearly and concisely

This is a full-time hybrid position based from the office 3 days a week.
